Steelers win Super Bowl XL

What more do you want on Super Bowl Sunday?

In every state you go in this country, you say Pittsburgh Steelers and they KNOW. Steelers have the strongest fan base from all across the country than any other team in the NFL. For some locals, Super Bowl traditions have been going strong for many years. It was American tradition when they gather with friends and family, to watch an event that is more than just a game to them.

We too. ( Bryan and I, GW and Zijian, Adrian, Tianlin, and their friend, Wenzheng.) We gather to watch last night's Superbowl XL at GW&ZJ's place. Geok Wah has been kind enough to cook us a nice and complete homestyle dinner, but most of us, including GW herself, hasn't been able to concentrate on eating... yes, the game has just started. We were all so excited. All kinds of expression filled our faces. We cheer, we laugh, we cry....totally losing control of ourselves... Bryan joked about how watching the game helps promote blood circulation (becos of increasing heartbeat) We were all so very nervous....it was an extraordinary match.

And when the Steelers eventually won 21-10 over the Seattle Seahawks.... Everyone went wild.... Tianlin opened the balcony door and screamed victory... Wenzheng went out of voice, Zijian fell out of his chair, Geok Wah stumping on the floor...大家都不顾形象了....哈哈! All jumping and hugging each other with joy...I was busy snapping pictures, hoping to capture this historic, magical moment....

It has been reported in the news that for the entire game, streets in Pittsburgh, esp the Oakland and the South Side had looked like ghost towns in swirling snow. There were no traffic, no pedestrians, nothing. But as the final seconds wound down, the bars in both neighborhoods emptied. Steelers' fan emerged and started cheering madly and crowding on the streets, celebrating the team's Super Bowl victory. The entire city was painted with blacks and golds. There are Steelers flags on almost every car, almost everywhere, you find people waving their Terrible Towels, cheering, throwing toilet paper, setting off fireworks. You see strangers high-fived and hugging each other, some celebrated on the streets without their winter coats. Some were shirtless!

Most of the public Schools has announced 2 hrs delayed classes. Oh, there will even be a Victory Parade for the Steelers, soon to be held when the players are back to Pittsburgh.

"Here we go, Steelers, here we go!"
